Palermo: A Home for People in Need

In the new OpenCoesione video-story is shown the way in which the “DIMORA!” project, promoted by the Municipality of Palermo, is restoring dignity to individuals living on the streets.

The initiative, launched in November 2018 with support from the European Social Fund within the framework of the Operational Program "Metropolitan Cities" 2014-2020, and later refinanced in 2021 for a total amount of approximately 6.3 million euros, aims to provide accommodation and assistance to socially and health-wise vulnerable individuals through a series of integrated interventions and actions. Foremost among these is the management of three day and night centers where homeless individuals are welcomed and subsequently empowered to reintegrate into the workforce and find housing independently.
