Monithon

Monithon is an independent initiative of civic monitoring of public funding, tackling the projects financed by cohesion policies and based on the availability of open data.

Monithon was born in 2013 when the team of the national open data portal OpenCoesione, participating in the first Spaghetti Open Data event, proposed to transform a hack-athon into a moni-thon, that stands for a marathon of "civic monitoring" of public funding.

Today Monithon - a common tool open to everybody - is a platform enebling the development of civic monitoring reports while representing a methodological tool for planning and structuring civic curiosity.
It is aimed at local communities, journalists and citizens eager to commit for observing public projects, from planning the intervention to its implementation. It works in close partnership with the schools of the At the School of OpenCoesion, and is implemented thanks to the involvement of universities and national associations.
