Kohesio

In March 2022, the European Commission published "Kohesio", a public online platform that collects all information about ongoing cohesion policy projects in the 27 Member States, financed in the framework of 2014-2020 programming period by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Cohesion Fund (CF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).

Kohesio aggregates and makes available to users the information published in the lists of operations and beneficiaries that fall under the responsibility of the respective Managing Authorities (according to the communication obligations set by the Regulation (EU) 1303/2013, Annex XII and Regulation (EU) 2021/1060, article 49), encouraging the identification and exchange of best practices between different regions and between Member States.

The platform provides the users with standardized project data, including links to the respective programs and funds; standardized data regarding the beneficiaries of the projects and their performance; data on more than 300 Operational Programmes in all 27 Member States; an interactive map that enables users to retrieve the data geographically.

With reference to Italy, OpenCoesione is the data source for Kohesio. The data are downloaded using the OpenCoesione API, an application interface that allows any external software component to access the portal data on projects and subjects financed by cohesion policies in Italy released under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Kohesio complements the Cohesion Data platform, allowing users to follow the progress made in implementing cohesion policy at EU level, by theme, country or fund.
