10/12/2018

A meeting of the two networks of communicators of the European Structural and Investment Funds, namely the Inform network for the ERDF and the Cohesion Fund and the INIO network for the European Social Fund, was held in Brussels this 5-7 December.

This is a recurring event promoted by two Directorates-General of the European Commission (i.e. DG Regio and DG EMPL) to meet with the communicators of the operational programmes in order to discuss the communication efforts of the individual Member States and communication content and techniques of the European funds as well as to present success stories.

On 6 December, day two of the event, one of the examples of network best practice presented was the project At the School of OpenCoesione (ASOC), which was selected as one of the cases that best translates the rules of good communication into an effective product.

The ASOC project and the number of students, teachers and classes involved in its six editions were presented during the meeting, and one example of the students’ efforts of civic monitoring and research was discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the intention of the European Commission to test out Project ASOC, a pilot project of open data education, on the cohesion policies of three or four other Member States was announced.
