IMPROVING MARITIME TRANSPORT EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY IN THE ADRIATIC
INTESA project establishes a network among the National Maritime Administrations of Italy and Croatia and main port authorities of the Adriatic sea (Venice, Trieste, Ravenna, Ancona, Bari, Rijeka, Ploce and Split) with the scope of harmonizing and optimizing the procedures of the complete maritime transport process in order to make port and maritime transport system more efficient and safe. All the phases of maritime transport are considered: deepsea traffic - entrance/exit in port - berth and gate in gate out. Only if all the procedures related to these 3 phases are optimized and well connected among them the whole transport process is effective. For this reason, the project aims at improving Adriatic maritime transport system addressing specific problems in: ¿ Port land side: to optimize the port procedure from unload of the cargo from the ship to the forward by train or truck and viceversa ¿ Port sea side: to optimize the procedure to enter and exit from the port, avoiding waiting times and limiting the use of technical services as for example tug boats§; to increase port perf
