I periodi di siccità frequenti ed elevate temperature provocano stress ambientale e ciò provoca la riduzione delle quantità di acqua. Per tale motivo gli indicatori dei consumi di acqua aumenteranno. Ciò influirà sugli ecosistemi naturali ed agricoli (in particolare su settori con un elevato "indice di sfruttamento idrico" come viticoltura).
