The 4th ASOC Story is online. The Open Stadium Acquasanta team is the main actor
"The construction site of the stadium had stood still for years and in the city you could see this structure that was there but could not be used, and they wanted to understand the reasons why the works were progressing so slowly." Professor Anna Iorio thus remembers the students of the Open Stadium Acquasanta team, which in 2015-2016 took part in the third edition of At the School of OpenCohesion.
They were enrolled in the first and second year of the "Amedeo d’Aosta" Industrial Technical Institute in L'Aquila. In the city wounded by the earthquake of 6th April 2009, the boys (it was an all-male class)" were enthusiastic about the idea of monitoring a facility at disposal of young people and for sports". Their civic monitoring action gained visibility in the local media, probably helping to unblock the project, also thanks to radio interviews and newspaper articles.
The “OSA Team” also promoted a petition to ask the students what should be the name of the stadium that the Municipality had chosen to name after Italo Acconcia, a football player and coach born in the 1920s. The indication of the Gran Sasso d’Italia prevails, the highest mountain in the Apennines, the one that dominates the city. A suggestion had been listened: the Acquasanta facility is today the Gran Sasso d'Italia-Italo Acconcia stadium.
The fourth story for the ASOCStories column is online: "After thirty years L'Aquila has a new stadium. The activities pushed by the Open Stadium Acquasanta team". You can read it on the At the School of OpenCohesion website or on Instagram
